Wylie, I want to thank you for an awesome show.  I was one of the cowboys in the front row this spring at the theatre in Red Wing Mn.   It was a pretty random deal actually that we all went.   See, myself and two friends were introduced to your music  about two years ago somehow and fell in love with it.  Cara Turner i guess was the first to play it loud in her truck (shortly after she found it)... but not long after it was common in mine also.. and the third member of the trio, Melissa Martin.   I'd heard about the concert in Red Wing well ahead of time and bought the girls some tickets for their birthdays..     well as things panned out, Cara had just accepted a job with the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs and was headed out there a few weeks before the show and Melissa was gonna be gone that weekend for a planned family trip in northern Minnesota.  Bummer on my part, but i  made the best of it and shared your music with some other folks and when the day came, i called to see if there were a few seats available..   We showed up and the nice gal in the ticket office offered us the front row on some kind of college rate.  It couldnt have been any more awesome.  I felt bad cause i think i was the only one in the group who knew the words to not one of the tunes but dang near all of them.  You have a very well put together group of musicians, I think your drummer was a little green with your group yet but he was awesome.  The little details to be noticed from the front row made it that much more real.  The guitar id seen in pictures, the buckle won only by a horseman, the style the west.  Everything that evening was pretty awesome.    I also want to apologize for being so short after the concert,  I was especially dumbfounded when you came over to talk to us.  Just so flustered by the whole concert i couldnt hardly spit a word out.          .. I see you show in Billings is coming up in a week orso..  Id so love to make it out ther for that.  I wish you the best of luck...  im dissapointed that none of your shows are sheduled in the midwest yet... but maybe if i get headed out that way, closer to washington , ill travel a few extra miles to see you fellers again.  it would be worth it.         Good luck and God Bless!

I recently had the opportunity to attend your show in Yakima Washington .  My wife and I were guests of my parents who are fans of yours.  I was not sure what to expect, because really I have had little exposure to your style of music, except for a few songs I have heard while ridding around with my Dad.
I have to tell you I had the time of my life.  I have been to the Gorge and seen the likes of Tim McGraw and the Dixie Chicks.  Let me tell you they have nothing over on you.  I had so much fun.  You put on an exceptional show and I have never had so much fun at a concert or been to a better one in my short life.
You said something at the concert that struck a cord with me you said, I listen to country music stations sometimes and I just can't relate to the music.  As I heard the first song you sang I almost had to fight back tears.  You see I grew up on a farm in central Washington and love the lifestyle that farm life offers.  I miss every minute I am not on the farm with the horses.  Those songs you sang hit me like no other songs I have heard.  Those words mean something to me and are so relevant in my life.
I am a junior at Central Washington University majoring in business.  I often find myself berried in homework and stuck indoors.  When I need a release I pop in the paradise CD and it takes me to places I am not, but wish to be.  Lets just say it helps me cope with reality or the lights of the city.  Your music is truly something special to me and I think I am currently performing stress tests on the CDs I bought.
I know that you probably get lots of positive feed back from people you meet.  I just wanted to let you know that this 22 year old fully relates to your music and it is something special.  I might also add that the Glory Trail CD is a great CD.  God Bless!

You've outdone yourself on the new CD.  I'm really enjoying it (and I've got Elton Britt and Rex Allen and Marty Robbins to compare you all to).  Wylie the singing is top notch, as always, but the arrangements are just knock outs.

Thanks for the happy hours listening to your fun, upbeat stuff.   I find hearing at least one yodel a day makes me in a better mood.

Also, it was a real treat to see your Dad's picture, Wylie.  You've been blessed not only by having Kimberley, but also by having your Dad live a wonderful, long life.  He sure looks like a fun guy!

I just wanted to tell you that I first experienced your unique and fun music at a west festival in Calif. in 1998 and ever since you have given many hours of great sing along songs that I have mastered and I think I'm quite the yodeler. hahaha  I am glad to see that you are still putting out the CD's and doing well with your music. \I have since moved to Colorado and if you would ever consider coming out here for us folks who would really love to come see you play because I must say I look pretty silly yodeling to myself going down the road I really need to be able to look over at the cowboy passing me in his old pickup and see him singing the same song, you know what I mean?

Well keep on singing Wylie as you are truly blessed with a great gift and I thank you for sharing it to the world.

Connie and I would like to thank you again for a wonderful weekend at the Saddle Up Celebration.  Your music is wonderful, your showmanship delightful, and your off-stage warmth and genuine friendliness made us glad for the opportunity to see you in person.  Your simple "thanks for stopping to say good-night" at the end of the dance says a lot about a down-to-earth sincerity that doesn't try to get better than their raisin'.  It's refreshing and made us happy that we drove the 800 miles from northern Michigan to spend some time with you.

As we traveled home on Sunday morning, the "Glory Trail" was our companion, and the girl back-up singer on the passenger seat beside me only added to the enjoyment of the ride.   We hope to duplicate that enjoyment while ridin' the high line on a very docile horse someday soon.

I have seen videos on CMT several years ago, and enjoyed them.  However, my husband and I came to your Saturday night performance at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko.  (Just a few days ago).  And what a thoroughly fantastic experience!  I grew up with parents who were in their late 30’s when I was adopted.  So, I grew up listening to Marty Robbins, and all of my mom’s favorites.  And your show reminded me of those days as well as reminding me to appreciate what I have here in Idaho on our Appaloosa ranch.  While there, I purchased the “Hooves of the Horses” CD and I can tell you with all honestly that it will be one that others will be sick of soon because that is all I will listen to.

We toyed last Saturday between going to Michael Martin Murphey or going to your show.  I love Michael, he is one of my all time favorites.  And yet, since He plays here in Idaho Falls at our Colonial Arts Theatre on occasion, I made the ultimate decision to come to your show instead.   And I am not one bit sorry that I made that choice.  I enjoyed every second, and was saddened only to see it come to an end. 

Until that point in time, I knew of you and your music, but not well enough to consider myself a fan.  I know now, that it will be my goal to purchase a copy of everything that you have done.  My husband is a horse trainer and cowboy poet here in Idaho .  He loved your song “When I’m Ridin, I’m Right.”   That sums up his life pretty well.  He has grown up on a horse, and spent 16 years being a Deputy Sheriff for Bonneville County , and shortly after we got married two and a half years ago, he quit to train and shoe horses full-time.    And while there have been a few slim months, neither one of us regret this decision.  Now, the training and shoeing is good and people are asking him to do his Cowboy Poetry for their parties.  He writes all of his own poetry and is having the time of his life telling them to people.

But the whole point of this email was to Thank you for putting on such a fantastic show.  I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a ticket in the future.

And your band doesn’t go with out recognition either.  Ray and Scot are both nothing less than impressive with their musical ability.  They compliment your show very well.

Should you ever find yourself in Idaho Falls , I’d like to extend an invitation for you to visit our place.  It’s not large, but you can ride across the road, and ride all the way to Wyoming without having to cross very many roads.  And we have about 20 retired horses and some miniature horses that my Mother-In-Law uses to give “special needs” individuals a horse experience weather it is riding or driving the miniatures and carts. She has a class size in the summer of about 100 special individuals.  Mostly provided free of charge with whatever help she can wrangle into helping in trade for riding lessons or borrowing horses.  She is truly a blessing in disguise to many.

Dear Wylie:  I was certainly dumbfounded this morning when I received your telephone call wishing me happy birthday.  I knew my friend Pauline was up to something, but I never dreamed it would be something like that.  You will have to excuse her, she gets a little exuberant at times.  I was thinking "wow, what entertainers must have to do to keep their fans happy".  Although I pride myself that I am not easily surprised, I surely was.  Being a long time Sons of the Pioneers fan, I have gotten great enjoyment from your music and especially your compositions.  I have told several friends and relatives about your music and have purchased CDs as gifts for them.  I am looking forward to your new, and soon to be released, CD.

Howdy Wylie,

   Wow! what a great surprise to have you show up at my b-day party. I'm still overwhelmed by the whole thing. The party was a surprise as it was. Our family got together lastnite and viewed the video that my daughter Mischelle and son-in-law Ponch recorded. It came out fabulous. Everyone says that I should tell you the story of how your music changed my life. So here goes.......About 4 yrs ago I went thru a divorce. It was very sad for me and my family to see me so sad and hurt. You know how music takes you right back to where you were at the time? (Great for the memories) Well I couldn't listen to music it would make me cry. Then one day almost 2 yrs. ago (right before your concert in Kirkland   performing arts center). I walked into Way Out West in Snohomish Wa . and there you were yodeling away. I asked Robin who that was and she told me all about you. I bought the cd. Total Yodel. My dad yodeled....not quite as good as you but, I loved him to yodel. I came home that day went to your web site found that you were going to be at the Kirkland P.A.center. I bought 5 tickets 1 for my sister, my brother, sis-in-law, and best friend and of course me. I gave them and a cd of yours each for Christmas. We went to your concert and the rest is history. You sing happy, happy music that changed my life form sad to happy. And Wylie is my daughter the greatest!!!!!! I thank God everyday for my 3 kids and my life.

Thank you for coming to my b-day party.  We all hope to see you at the Tractor.

     Your show at Snoqualmie was super.  Both my wife and I love your music and it seems we can't get enough of it.  I have all eight of you CD's, and they are the only ones we have in our changer in the car.  We listen to you all the time.  You may remember me, I'm the one with the black cowboy hat sitting in the front row with my wife.  I first met you at your show in Edmonds a couple of months ago, and again last Sunday in Snoqualmie at Mount Si High School.  We are looking forward to seeing you again in July at the Ballard Seafood Festival.  I just wanted to let you know you and your music are loved in our house hold.  Hope to see you in Dusty sometime this summer.

We had a difficult time deciding which CD to order since it all hits the spot; So, we saved up for a while and decided to order all of your available recordings, especially since there is nothing like it anywhere else around here. I am thankful every time I hear my 5 year-old singing your lyrics (my 18 and 13 year olds like your music too).  I want to personally thank you for your efforts. Again, I want to "thank you" and the Wild West, for the awesome concerts at
the Sheldon.  Connie and I had such a great time!  We are so thankful we
bought tickets for the 3 o'clock show - you guys were so great, we had to
come back for more.  We bought our tickets to the 8 o'clock show at the
intermission for the 3 o'clock show.  Saturday was my first time seeing you
guys....I've been listening to Connie's cd's for a while now....You have
such a wonderful voice.  And your songs truly do "paint a picture".  I
can't say enough good things about the concert.  It was quite an honor to
meet you and the other guys and have your autographs on our cd's and
programs.

My only complaint was that the evening had to come to an end!  I could've
sat and listened to you guys all night long!!   Your 3 o'clock show was
Connie birthday present to me.  The 8 o'clock show was my present to
myself.  Thank you for a very memorable birthday....it's one I'll never
forget.  We'll be checking your website to see you again when you come back
around.

America 's Drawing Cowboy here, Darryl Willison. You are amazing. I am proud of the great things before you, and am honored that you and I have shared words. As a fellow artist, I am aware of how much work it takes to be seen and even better-remembered! Not to mention make a few bucks while you are at it. I am curious as to your age. I ask because I feel as an artist with some thing uniquly different to share with the world, at what point in your life does it all become "real"? A success? Do people accept you better if you have crows feet and a full head of silver? (I don't think you are that old!) Or, is it great marketing? I will be 38 this saturday, I have two beautiful little girls, a wonderful wife, and a dog & cat. I am very thankful for it all, and already feel "rich", but I continue to work my rear off to get the exposure and , well, the rest of the stuff this world seems to think(as well as myself as a result) that you need to be successful. I believe in what you sing about because it is what I draw, and I want the old west to be a part of people's lives, and humor and color help the effort. You do not owe me any explanation, but I ask for some of your wisdom if you do not mind. Keep up the great work, and it is a pleasure to hear you on the radio finally! Always your pal, Darryl

I attended the show in Kirkland and just wanted to say thanks. I am a fan since about 98 but this was the first chance to see a live show. I live downtown Kirkland so it was very handy. I have seen alot of rock and roll shows but I have to asay that last night was one of the most sincere I have ever experienced, it was very obvious you guys love to do this... right up there with Lyle Lovett in Seattle last year. I sure hope you play kirkland again, I will lobby as much as possible...can't wait to hear my favorite "Dogone Cowboy" live.

Good morning just a short note to say thank you for a great time here in Sheridan my wife and I so enjoyed. Knew we would, have all your CD's, the last two I like the best so pure and from the heart. I have listened to western and country music all my life very little else, and what I always liked was each one of the great ones and a distinct voice and sang with so little effort watching you Saturday night it was the same I do not know but I think it has to be in the soul, not just for money. The song you sing of your own come form life, real life not like the junk you hear on the radio today.

Your concert Friday night at the Met was the best yet! My aunt was in agreement. The addition of the fiddle with Scot's talent is a great asset. I thoroughly enjoyed every note. It amazes me how you write such wonder music. I am especially fond of the song written honoring your parents and their golden years together. They are very proud of you! Duane looks like he is recovering from some serious illness. I hope that he is on the road to recovery.

It's always my pleasure to see you any time I can on the stage and I always say "Howdy" when I drive by your place on my way to Waitsburg.

Here's the Catch-22 for us music lovers regarding your being ignored by the music industry (and this certainly applies to Christy McWilson & the late Picketts, or Connie Dover, as well): Something's gained, yet something's lost*, when artists such as yourselves get the recognition you truly p>deserve. Friendly, personal chats with musicians who know their "fans" (I hate that word, but can't think of a better one offhand) as individuals get replaced by lines of autograph hounds. People who truly enjoy your music get shoved aside by people who just want to bask in the reflected glory of fame. And all of a sudden, you need to learn words like "security" & "stalker", and everybody & his brother wants a bigger chunk of your time, so people can't get to know you &Ray/Christy/Blackie/Connie) & your band(s) for the truly nice- not just talented- folks you are.

That said, I'd still be tickled pink to see you (or Christy, or Connie) have that million-seller, because all the more people would get to enjoy your music, which is simply top-drawer. Then maybe we'd talk again once the fame had ebbed a bit, and you could share humorous & fascinating stories about 'the ride'- and I suspect you'd still be just as nice as ever. (A great example of that is the legendary Don McLean, who proved as nice to meet & talk with as he was surprised- but pleasantly, I think- that I couldn't care less about getting his autograph) And hopefully we'd have a laugh over how long it took for you to get "Marie" recorded, but, doggone it, you finally did!.

In the meantime, I hope it helps to know that "Hey Maria" will still be played when we need to hear a really great song, just as Connie's rendition of "Rosemary's Sister" or Christy's "Ship Song" or Ray's "Half-Hearted Love" or Blackie's "Don't You Ever", or... any number of other really fine tunes you've produced (& have yet to produce) will. The pleasure your music gives people reflects a gift you have, and one which shouldn't be taken for granted... despite the music industry's short-sightedness. With that, I'll jump off the soap box. Besides, I'm sure you knew all that anyway, & we certainly don't want to get maudlin here... yet perhaps it still needed to be said. And, hopefully, you feel just a little better for having read it.

Just purchased your new CD, Paradise! NICE JOB EVERYONE!!!!!! Since there are NO places to get CD's in Cle Elum, a friend and I went to the West side (Bellevue- ugh!) and found it at the Silver Platters store in CrossRoads. I asked them to demo it for me while I looked around. So after Placido Domingo and "100 Years of Mariachi"-------came Wiley and the Wild West! I don't mind telling you that they cranked it up just a bit-------the young salesman saying at first "whewwww, his is country!" It only took a moment and when they finished with "Yodel Boogie" that same young salesman said "Jeez, this thing ROCKS!" I saw 3 copies go out the door after mine (*no tips required...........grin). I'm especially pleased with the "girl from north country." I heard Dylan do it way back when.....not nearly as moving as your rendition. HE better be proud of you!

Also enjoyed your article in Western Horseman! One of these days hubby and I will make it to Dusty WA. If you're home (or at the Dusty Cafe) we can have a cup of coffee and talk about the world.....WHICH IS A MUCH BETTER PLACE WITH YOUR MUSIC! Good goin' gang!!!!!!

Just thought I would let you know that we received the new CD, actually two of them, today. And after listening to it and reading the information contained on the brochure, giving all the info on the songs etc., I just had to sit down and respond. The songs and music are really great. Gay and I enjoyed it so very much. And when she read some of the things that Waddie Mitchell said, she got real emotional. And of course, I had to read the remarks also. Made me stop and realize how much of a contribution you have made in the lives of very many people. Not only children, but a lot of adults also. We still find it amazing that you and the Wild West have not received the proper recognition that you deserve. Gay and I really do appreciate all you do in keeping the "good" cowboy music around. Your new CD is a great example. I hope that you run out of copies. I mean, that you sell them all and more. We do appreciate your kindness to us when we have attended the concerts. We especially enjoyed you and your music at the Sonoma Vintner's Picnic. Please keep up the good work. And we are especially looking forward to the next concert, somewhere within our circle of travel, that we can attend. Please convey our appreciation to the others in the group. Thank you so much for sending me a new c.d. and what a pleasant surprise to see that you personally reply to the email I sent yesterday. I enjoy listening to your music and each new c.d. takes it to the next step. If you have a moment, I would like to tell you a quick story of how your music made Christmas 1998 a memorable one.

First of all, I was raised outside of Memphis, Tn, not a lot of Western Music played around here but I have always enjoyed country music. I'm 33 and grew up listening to my parents music like The Statler Brothers, Hank Williams, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. While in college, I started slowly listening to western music thanks to he likes of Asleep at the Wheel and various other artist. No one really turned me on to it just started enjoying it on my own. Well to bring you to the purpose of this story; Back in 1998 I bought my first house located outside of Memphis. My mother thought it would be nice to have my family over for Christmas and so my parents and my sister's family call me over to spend the night. While we were preparing for the next day, mom and my sister in the kitchen cooking, Dad and wrapping presents, etc.. I popped in your "Total Yodel" c.d. My parents were floored that I listened to that type of music. My mom loved Western music but due to today's radio airplay, just old memories. She spent the rest of the evening singing away at those songs and then come to find out that she yodels. The next day when the relatives came over, she had me play the c.d. for her sisters and they set around talking about the old western singers about the cowboy movies back when they were growing up. Since then, we still have Christmas at my house and it is not the Christmas songs we listening too but your Cowboys Songs. I hope this wasn't too long just wanted to thank you for the good music you put out and the Chrismas memories that were made that first Christmas at my house.

My parents were at the Washington Cattlemans Convention in Chelan and since they got home they've been braggin' about how good your band is and how good of a yodeler you were. Well after listening to the 3 CD's they bought I must say your band is awesome and your and outstanding yodeler! I was wondering if you could give me a few tips on yodeling and singing in general if you have the time. I enjoy the old country music and yodeling and if I was half as good as you I'd be awesome. so I figured if I wanted to be as good as you who else to ask but you. I like your music because you are from the country and grew up on a farm just like I am right now. I believe this makes your music more meaningful because you know what your talking about. Great show at the Tractor (our 3rd one there). Big Crowd, I'm afraid you're getting too popular for the Tractor and now with the Kingdome slated to be blown up, I don't know where you'll be able to play in Seattle. The new CD is great, my new favorite. Did you ever think of learning Big City, it's got a great swing beat and mentions Montana. It was cool to see Don Edward's comments on the liner notes on the new CD. How was it working with the "Idol of AMerican Youth" ? Keep up the good work and we'll look you up at Santa Clarita.

Just wanted to say I love the new album. I didn't think Wylie's yodeling could get any smoother, but he's sounds even better than he ever has before. "Yodeling My Blues Away" is my new favorite song.

This is Judy Kaplan, Kevin Tomlinson's wife and business partner. First of all I wanted to tell you that Kevin learned about you from Charlie Tomaras. Kevin and Charlie work together often doing network news magazine shows. Kev is talking you up with various Producers -- we all feel your story would be make a terrific piece. I've never really been a fan of country/western although I admit to listening to Patsy Cline when the mood strikes. Kevin gave me "Asleep At the Wheel" to listen to and I like them alot. My friend Joan and I attended your show Sat. night at the Tractor Tavern with Kevin. We LOVED it. Now with your wonderful voice, keen lyrics and folksy manner I find myself slipping into fanhood. Throughout the evening I found myself dancing, laughing, and purposely smiling at Duane trying to get him to smile back -- maybe it was my imagination, but I think I succeeded a couple of times. Thank you all for a delightful evening.

I just saw you guys at Bumpershoot today, and you were the highlight of my day. I am a fifth generation Montanan who is calling the Seattle area home for now. I am in my thirties and not a modern country music fan. I work as an attorney for the Army now and travel all over the world, but today really took me home to growing up on the ranch. Thanks so much! I plan on buying all your CD's.

Do you folks have any plans for the 4th of July weekend next year?

It's probably too long Wylie, but here goes. My dad was a suburban legend. He died three weeks ago of cancer. I finally saw your group at Bubpershoot after knowing about you from the Yodeling commercials and putting it together with the wonderful review in the Times here in Seattle. This has everything to do with my dad because he too sang and played the guitar around the house and being a suburban girl I hated it! But then as time went on I loved it, and him. We would go see everybody from Doug Kershaw to Ranch Romance. His obituary thanks Waylon, Willie, and Johnny. All four of us kids remember soooo many more. Mom and Dad's song was Frank Ifields, I remember You. I now own the album scratches and all.

When you sang that, I sang along and cried too. If you ever need girl harmony please write! Or call. I bought Way Out West and played I Remember you for mom. She burst into tears but felt so good hearing it again. The review makes it sound like you intend to play on any level forever. Please do for at least two generations of wannabees! Recently, our department went on a business trip to Nashville, TN and were able to catch a show at the Grand Ole Opry where we saw you perform November 18. I just have to say that you are a very talented person with an absolutely beautiful voice. I was never a HUGE country fan; I mean I liked it and all, but it wasn't my favorite type of music. However, being at a Grand Ole Opry show can change that outlook. I totally enjoyed the show as well as your performance.

Where on earth can I get your CD's? I bought one years ago at a circuit city after seeing you on television one night. I have never found another album since. You are one of the scant few acts I've seen in the last ten years that is unique and captivating. I knew your entire album in one day and had never heard of you before that! It is years later and I still listen to your music like it was the first time. You blow the rest out of the water! How do I find any other music that you've put out? I tried your web page but can't get into it? Help! I think your brand of music is simple, singable, classic country but not really and is the best "Travlin' down the road with the windows open" music I've ever heard.
